*Comedian Bruce Bruce revealed recently that the best advice Steve Harvey gave him was to wear a suit for his stand-up performances.
During his appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Bruce Bruce recalled a moment he had with Harvey at The Apollo Theater back in the day, Ice Cream Convos reports.
“I went to The Apollo, and Steve said, ‘This what I want you to do.’ He said, ‘When people come out to see you give em something back.’ And he said, ‘I want you to start dressing in suits,’ “.
Bruce Bruce said Harvey added, ” ‘You’re a big dude.’ He said, ‘You look good in a suit.’ And I had on some Sean Jean sweatshirt… he said, ‘Man, that stuff right there good when you’re traveling.’ He said, ‘When you getting on a plane, you going to another city…’ He said, ‘But, uh, on stage…’ He said, ’Nah!’ “
“That’s why I started wearing suits,” Bruce Bruce shared.
“And he took me up in his dressing room, he showed me the suits he had, the gators he had on the floor… I said, ‘Well, I guess I could…’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want to wear no suits on stage, you know what I’m saying?’ And he said, ‘Just do it, nah..’ I kept listening to him, listening to him, and I did it, and it just changed my whole life,” he admitted.
