VYRE: The Art of Streaming While Black & the Men Who Founded it | VIDEO

*In the incredibly huge world of online streaming platforms, there’s absolutely no shortage of consumers finding, accessing, and enjoying on-demand services.  Yet, in the midst of the enormous number of streaming platforms and services available, two business partners are on a mission to make their company, VYRE Network, the No. 1 “free” streaming platform on the planet.  A tall feat, but not for the two visionaries.

Launched in October 2019 by David Hill and Lamar Seay, both African Americans, the Los Angeles-based VYRE Network touts itself as a free streaming platform with worldwide reach through apps on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Android, iPhone, Samsung TVs, and the World Wide Web.

“We started with 200 films and television shows licensed to us,” said Hill, VYRE’s co-founder, president & CEO.

Hill added: “And in six months, we grew to 2,500 films and television shows licensed to us.  We currently have approximately 12,179 films and television programs that have been downloaded in 186 countries.”

Seay, VYRE’s co-founder and COO, expounded on the company’s streaming content.

“We have channels for sports such as boxing, basketball, football, soccer, and more,” said Seay.  “VYRE also has lifestyle channels with content for cooking and traveling, music channels for hip hop, R&B, and pop, and a comedy channel.  We also have a Spanish Channel.”

In addition to VYRE’s streaming service being free, the two men explained their goals for the company.

“Other platforms look to showcase the big blockbusting films,” Seay said.  “At VYRE, we are looking to showcase the next filmmakers who will have the next blockbuster films.  We want to showcase their art, their vision, and their voice.”

Before Hill and Seay teamed to form VYRE, both worked together as partnering executives.

Hill had been a media and marketing executive for more than two decades in business development and entertainment.  As an event promoter, he ultimately evolved into print media and rendered guided leadership to the success of five national magazines.  Hill has worked with living legends of entertainment, such as Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Swedish House Mafia, among others.

Likewise, Lamar Seay has deep roots as a successful entrepreneur, industry executive, and visionary leader.  Seay has produced television shows for multiple media outlets, served as Chief Editor of True Magazine, and professionally interfaced with established entertainers.  Yet, Seay has always had a sharp eye for discovering the next superstar or exploring opportunities ahead of paradigm shifts in business and entertainment.

Seay and Hill’s experiences and connections in business and entertainment have paid dividends guiding the rapid rise of VYRE.

“When we launched in October 2019, we had a leg up because we already had established valuable relationships in the industry,” Hill said.  “We took the same concept that we had for the success of our  magazines, which featured the next generation of artists, the next generation of film creators, and the next generation of athletes.”

For VYRE to become the world’s No. 1 “free” streaming company, Hill and Seay are following a blueprint they created to reach success by gaining audiences via partnerships, live streams, and sports leagues.

The company is in partnership with the United Premier Soccer League on a landmark media rights deal for U.S. Soccer.  VYRE has also experienced expanded viewership by streaming the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) games in partnership with the WNFC.  This partnership has brought global awareness of women playing tackle football. VYRE has also partnered to live stream music concerts, including the 2nd Annual Valentine’s Day Special in 2022 featuring R&B superstar NE-YO.

As 2022 comes to an end, Hill and Seay are eagerly looking to take VYRE to new heights in the new year and beyond.

“We will give a voice or be a great starting point for someone who is seasoned in the industry but has not been able to get that big break,” Hill said.  “VYRE is for the next generation of filmmakers.  We will find that next Steven Spielberg to work with.  We are growing.   And we want to be known for our excellent content and not so much because we are a Black-owned business.  We want people to see entertaining content on VYRE that they won’t be able to see elsewhere.”

Seay agreed, adding the importance of original content being a critical element to VYRE’s success moving forward.

“It’s the content that will set us apart from other online streaming platforms,” he said.  “We haven’t gotten deep in doing a lot of originals yet.  But our original projects will really be what is going to push VYRE out there.  When we started, David and I told each other that we wouldn’t push VYRE, so to speak, but instead push the projects that we have.  Once we do more originals and get them out there a little more, it will be easier for people to catch on to VYRE rather than us just promoting our company.”
