*A white woman screaming racial slurs at a black family in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, was caught on video and has since gone viral.
The family was visiting the area from Charlotte when the woman, identified as Rachel Ruit, began “screaming” at Aisha Abdus-Sabur, repeatedly saying, “Excuse me, n—-r.” That’s when her boyfriend’s brother began recording with his cellphone.
“As you can see in the first few seconds of the film, she says to me, ‘Touch me, n—-r, you’ll go to jail,’ trying to provoke violence and weaponize the police department and the justice system against me,” Abdus-Sabur told the New York Post. Some people in the area who were protesting tried to block Ruit from the family, but she turned her ire onto them as well. “She continued to say racial slurs to my face…over and over and over again,” Sabur told WRAL. “It was the most blatant display of racism that I have ever experienced.”
