THE REAL: The 55th Anniversary of ‘Bloody Sunday,’ and Cameron and Lauren from ‘Love Is Blind!’

*On Monday, March 2, “The Real” hosts discuss Rep. John Lewis’s surprise appearance at the “Bloody Sunday” commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala.

Co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley hopes this is a wake-up call for people to get out and vote this week, and co-host Loni Love says we need to keep talking about history so people don’t forget what brought us here.

The ladies speak to Molly Wooden and Nicki Harper Quinn, two moms from Texas who met when Molly posted a photo of Nicki, praising her for disciplining her son by having him do pushups in a store bathroom. The women tell their story and Nicki reveals how grateful she is that Molly didn’t judge her.

Nothing is getting co-host Amanda Seales to sign up for another dating app! Her co-hosts want to hear all the details and they’re on the case!

The hosts talk to Lauren and Cameron from Netflix’s hit reality series Love Is Blind! The couple reveals why they decided to find love on a reality show, how their family took the news of their unconventional relationship, and what’s next for them!

And Niles Fitch from This Is Us stops by to talk about his hit show, his plans to direct and produce someday and teaching Milo Ventimiglia slang!

The Hosts On Rep. John Lewis and The 55th Anniversary of “Bloody Sunday”

Tamera Mowry-Housley: And it’s moving to see, because you see a man who has fought for the rights of people for so many years and now he’s fighting for his own life. And there’s something when you read about history than when you’re actually able to see it – he is a living example of…

Tamera: …American history. And I hope this is a wakeup call for people to see. There are people who risked their lives for African Americans to vote, so you don’t need to sit on your couch and complain if you’re not actually getting out there and voting.

[The Real audience applauds]

Amanda Seales: Something about his book and his story really made me inspired to say this fight isn’t over and it’s part of my responsibility to carry forth the work that he started.

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni Love: You know, for people that say, “Oh, my vote doesn’t matter,” think about it like this: if your vote didn’t matter, why are so many people trying to suppress your vote?

[The Real audience applauds]

Amanda: Say it, wait – can you say it one more time?

Loni: If your vote doesn’t matter why are so many people trying to suppress your vote? That’s how important it is to get out there and vote. And just remember – Selma, this whole thing about Selma, the beauty of it – if you haven’t seen Ava DuVernay’s movie, please go see it because it explains it. We would not have the Voting Rights Act passed if all of those things hadn’t happened. They were non-violent protesters that actually got attacked. Then the next day, Martin Luther King did a commemorative march, and then finally they were able to actually make the march from Selma to Alabama which was 54 miles. And that actually moved the president at the time, Lyndon Johnson, to actually pass the Voting Rights Act. So people died, people were injured, people suffered so that you could have the right. People today, I don’t know, Amanda, sometimes I think younger people that don’t understand the history, especially when we get up here and you hear Amanda say something about the historical facts of what we went through just to build this country. We have to keep talking about it.

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: Because people will take it for granted if you don’t.
