‘The Real’ Ladies Aren’t Ready for the Country to Reopen + Krazy Kym Whitley Visits from Home – WATCH

*On Tuesday, April 28, on The Real From Home, each co-host brings Girl Chat from her home, during the current pandemic.

Today, the ladies discuss the governments that are loosening up stay-at-home restrictions and reopening their states against the advisement of public health experts.  Co-host Jeannie Mai would like to see the number of COVID-19 cases drop before venturing out again, while co-host Amanda Seales thinks that the politicians making the decisions to reopen are the ones least likely to be physically affected by the more lenient restrictions’ outcome.

Then, the hosts discuss the term “Karen” and if they feel that it is as derogatory to its recipients as the “N” word is towards African Americans. Amanda breaks down the meaning and intended use of the expression.

And, with the salons being closed due to the lockdown, would you let your man help with your beautify routines? Co-host Adrienne Houghton explains how her husband Israel has been helping with her hair and nails regiments.

Later, author and actress Kym Whitley joins the ladies from her home to talk about her many upcoming projects, quarantining with her adopted son’s father, and dating while social distancing!

Also, The Real reaches out to help Tiffany Sulivan in Sylvester, GA, who, along with several family members, has been affected physically and financially by COVID-19.

The Ladies Are Not Ready For The Country To Reopen

Jeannie Mai: I’m disgruntled that Georgia is opening up! I’m really bothered by this!

Adrienne Houghton: Me, too.

Jeannie: As of just last week in April, there were over 19,000 cases! And we’re going ahead and getting excited about getting our nails done and going to the movies? We have to understand that this continues to spread.  And until we either find a vaccine or completely get everyone in the hospitals healed so that we don’t continue spreading it within the hospitals and overcrowding them, we’re still in the same– until we get out of this! So, we can’t start setting dates into going out! Not yet! It’s too soon!

Adrienne: I saw the funniest meme that said that– you know how when the new iPhone comes out, you gotta let the first group of people get it? And then complain that it’s not completely good and they make the changes and they fix it? And then you come out– yeah, I’m gonna wait the third or fourth wave of this. Like, I’m really gonna need to be confident. Especially because, you guys, I have compromised immune system. Um, yeah, I won’t be going outside.

Amanda Seales: Can I just say something?

Adrienne: There ain’t gonna be no “catch me outside” happenin’ over here.

Amanda: It feels like– it feels like the people who are making the decisions about us going outside are the people who will be the least affected physically by what happens if you can go outside. And I see a lot of folks who are just forgetting that these body bags are not fake.

[EDIT]

Amanda: Can we just encourage people to stay home if they can. Like even if they are saying, “open up doors”, like. Make the best decision for yourself, your families, and your communities, and stay inside.
