*Yup! Marvel’s X-Men spinoff, The New Mutants is finally coming to theaters nationwide. Which is just in time because Regal Theaters will be reopening after a long pandemic shut down.
Here’s the bottom line to the film: Teenage mutants, Rahne Sinclair (Williams), Illyana Rasputin (Taylor-Joy), Sam Guthrie (Heaton), and Roberto da Costa (Zaga) are being held in an isolated hospital for psychiatric monitoring by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Braga).
Believing the teenagers are a danger to both themselves and society Dr. Reyes keeps a close eye on them. She struggles to teach them how to reign in their mutant abilities when newcomer Danielle “Dani” Moonstar (Hunt) joins the patient’s strange occurrences begin to take place. The facilities patients become plagued by hallucinations, flashbacks, and their new mutant abilities. Friendships will be tested as the mutants battle just to make it out alive.

The film’s screenplay writer Josh Boone says, “It was the first ‘X-Men’ spinoff comic ever, and it was done at a time when the X-Men were thought to be dead, so Xavier had to bring new students together.”
Boone goes on to say, “Although we incorporate similar themes from the comics, this is very much its own unique story.”
The New Mutants was filmed back in 2017, mostly in a Milbury, Massachusetts Hospital.
“It makes perfect sense now. I think the movie is supposed to come out now,” cast member Anya Taylor-Joy says referring to the comparison of their time in the facility and everyone being quarantined.
It was supposed to be released on April 2018 but for various reasons, the film got pushed back 4 times. On top of all that, there was never time for pickups or re-shoots.
Even through a pandemic and 2 years from the original release date, The New Mutants will be hitting theaters nationwide on August 28.
So yes you and the family can get excited to step outside of the house for a Marvel blockbuster.
