Paul Pierce Details Night He Was Viciously Stabbed Outside Boston Nightclub [WATCH]

*NBA icon and current ESPN analyst Paul Pierce opens up on the latest episode of “All The Smoke” about the night he was stabbed at a Boston nightclub in 2000.

Pierce told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on the podcast Thursday that he carried a gun everywhere he went for two years after the incident.

“People don’t know this, but I actually carried a gun for two years right after that,” he said, TMZ Sports reports. “I was so paranoid. Like, I kept it in the car, I had it on me, I was so paranoid after that. I was just like, I couldn’t be in crowds. Something like that happens to you, man, it’s traumatic.”

Pierce said he got stabbed three times in the stomach and five times in the back by two separate knives.

“That night changed my life man,” he said. “I remember being at the hospital, banging on the hospital door, asking them [if he was going to die] …. It really changed my life for me to get through that. I got stabbed three times in the stomach and five times in the back by two different knives,” he explained.

Pierce previously opened up on the incident, telling ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan in 2018 that he battled depression for a year after the stabbing.

“I think that’s the reason I got back on the court so fast,” he told MacMullan. “Me sitting at home thinking about [the stabbing] didn’t work. I went to every practice, sat on the sideline for hours, because that’s where I felt safe. I didn’t want those practices to end because then I had to go back out there in this world that really scared me.”

Pierce told Barnes and Jackson that in the years following the attack, he also suffered from extreme trauma.

“It was so bad that I couldn’t even sleep. I would wake up in the middle of the night. This is a story people a lot of don’t even know. I had to have 24-hour police surveillance at my house that’s how paranoid I was. All I did was go to the gym and home for like a good two-year stretch. It changes you, dude. You don’t know where to go, you don’t know who to look at, you’re really on your toes.”
