*Nia Long is set to star in and executive produce the true life tale “Dreams of the Moon,” about the Black American teenage girl from a small mining town who dreams of becoming an astronaut.
According to Deadline, Alfons Adetuyi (Love Jacked) will direct from a script penned by Denis Foon. Inner City Films and Spier Films are producing the pic, which is set to begin filming this April in South Africa.
Additionally, Eden Duncan-Smith, star of the Spike Lee-produced film “See You Yesterday,” on Netflix, has also been tapped to appear in the film, which is set in 1971 against the backdrop of the secret NASA Apollo 16 training mission, per Deadline.

Meanwhile, Long recently wrapped production on “Fatal Affair” for Netflix, in which she serves as both star and producer on the film. She will soon be seen on the big screen in the Apple TV+ film “The Banker.”
In related news, Long hit up The Breakfast Club this week and dished about her role as a producer and the double standards between men and women in the film industry. She also opened up about her relationship with her father Doughtry Long, who died January 27 at age 77.
“I lost my father recently. He was a great man and it’s amazing. I learned more about him by being in Trenton for a week, just putting the whole thing together than I never knew. I’m an adult. My life is in California. He was in Trenton. And he was such an icon in the community and did so much for so many of those kids, living down there. I was really proud of him. He is a poet, a writer, a photographer, just a renaissance man. Loved jazz music and good food. He was really like Larenz Tate in Love Jones but older,” she explained.
Adding, “The school Trenton High School did a beautiful tribute to my father. They did spoken word and some of his past students came. I could not stop crying. I was like this is amazing. Because sometimes, what a person can’t do for their own children, they do for the world. And I’m okay with that if that meant that I had to share him.”
