Mark Cuban Supports Honoring Kobe Bryant with NBA Logo Change

Kobe Bryant

*More than 3 million people have signed a Change.org petition asking the NBA to make Kobe Bryant the new logo.

The current logo has depicted a silhouette of former Los Angeles Lakers star Jerry West since 1969, but many are pushing the Association to make Bryant the new logo.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban supports honoring the late NBA legend by changing the logo.

“I would support it,” he told TMZ Sports.

“I just think it’s so much more than basketball,” Cuban added. “He brought so many people together.”

Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in a helicopter accident last Sunday. Cuban has decided that Kobe’s #24 will “never again be worn by a Dallas Maverick.”

Meanwhile, Yahoo Sports reported last week that the NBA will not change the logo. It’s also worth noting that Jerry West made clear back in 2017 that he doesn’t want to be the logo any more

The 81-year-old, who now works for the Los Angeles Clippers, released a statement to The Athletic following Bryant’s death.

“The news we’ve all received today is the most devastating news that anyone can imagine,’ said West.

“I am so saddened for Kobe’s parents, Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, Capri, Kobe’s sisters and all of the NBA fans that hold Kobe in their hearts. This loss of Kobe, Gianna, and everyone on board, is beyond tragic and incomprehensible.

“I will love Kobe forever and always cherish the time that I spent with him. I watched him grow from an energetic kid into the man he became, making a difference in so many people’s life. He has left the world a better place, Kobe’s legacy will live forever.”
