*Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to his Instagram account on Sunday (January 19) to share the cause of death and to honor his late father, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, who died last week at the age of 75.

“A lot of you guys wanted to know what happened to my dad. He had not been feeling well, had been battling a cold and infection and on Tuesday he had what’s called a deep vein thrombosis, which is essentially a blood clot in the leg,” the Rock said. “It was a big old blood clot that broke free, traveled up his body, and went right to his lung and clotted his lung and he died very quickly from a massive heart attack, just like that.”

The Rock also encouraged his followers to show some love to their parents, as he didn’t get the chance to tell his father “I Love You” one last time.

“Text them. Call them. Go see them, if they’re close by and if you can hug them I want you to hug them,” Johnson said. “You tell them that these are the marching orders from Dwayne Johnson who just lost his old man. But you hug them and you hug them hard.”

On Friday, Johnson shared a touching message to his father with a lengthy post on Instagram.

“You broke color barriers, became a ring legend and trail blazed your way thru this world. I was the boy sitting in the seats, watching and adoring you, my hero from afar. The boy you raised to always be proud of our cultures and proud of who and what I am. The boy you raised with the toughest of love,” Johnson wrote.

He added: “Dad, I wish I had one more shot to tell you, I love you, before you crossed over to the other side. But you were ripped away from me so fast without warning. Gone in an instant and no coming back. Im in pain. But we both know it’s just pain and it’ll pass. Now I’ll carry your mana and work ethic with me, as it’s time to move on because I have my family to feed and work to accomplish.”

We previously reported, Rocky – a member of the WWE Hall of Fame – was born in Nova Scotia, Canada as Wayde Douglas Bowles. He began his wrestling career at age 16 and went on to win several championships throughout the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, including the National Wrestling Alliance Georgia Champion, PEOPLE reports.

In 1983 he joined the WWE and began wrestling with Tony Atlas. As the first Black American tag team, the duo became known as The Soul Patrol and won the World Tag Team Championship in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).

Rocky retired in 1991 but went on to train his son Dwayne to become a wrestler.

He is survived by his sons, Dwayne and Curtis, and daughter Wanda. The cause of death is not currently known.
