Donald Trump Goes Off on NBC Reporter Who Asked if He’s Giving False Hope to ‘Scared’ Americans

*To those without rose-colored glasses, it’s easy to see Donald Trump feeling the extraordinary pressure of knowing things are about to go from good to REAL, REAL, REAL BAAAAD for him in the next few days when unemployment goes from 3 percent to what some experts say will be a staggering TWENTY PERCENT because of the effects of the coronavirus, which itself is going to get a lot worse.

During Friday’s daily Coronavirus Task Force briefing,  Trump angrily attacked a reporter who asked what his message was to “scared” Americans.

He snapped at Peter Alexander of NBC News, accusing him of “bad reporting.” Trump’s response came as he faced mounting questions over-ordering “millions” of units of the drug “chloroquine” that he said he has a “feeling” will be effective against the coronavirus.

“I guess 200 who are dead, 14,000 who are sick, millions who are scared right now. What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?,” was Alexander’s question to the self-minted “Wartime President.”

Even though you could see the question thouroughly pissed him off, Trump listened and when Alexander finished, Trump went in on him:

“I would say that you’re a terrible reporter, that’s what I’d say.”

He then added …

“I think it’s a very nasty question. And I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people. The American people are looking for answers and they’re looking for hope. And you’re doing sensationalism and the same with NBC, and Concast, I don’t call it Comcast [NBC News’ ultimate parent company] for whom you work. You need to get back to good reporting.

“Let’s see if it works.”

That last part, “let’s see if it works,” was a reference to the move to order chloroquine, despite Dr. Tony Fauci, the country’s top epidemiologist, saying at the same press briefing that there was no evidence it worked and that even its safety was unknown.
