Dog Bite Victim Hits Up ‘Botched’ Over ‘Pubic Hair’ Growing from Cheek Scar [VIDEO]

*Monday night’s “Botched” featured a woman who was left with pubic hair growing out of her face after having a skin graft as a child for a horrific dog attack.

Crystal Coombs reached out to plastic surgeons Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif for help fixing the dark ‘patch’ on her face. Coombs was left with the unsightly scar after a ‘chunk of tissue’ was torn out of her face by a pitbull when she was nine-years-old. Plastic surgeons used skin from her groin to repair the wound but as the years passed, pubic hair began growing from her cheek, Complex reports.

“It was open for a while,” she said of the wound in a clip for Monday night’s episode. “Like how the outside of Freddie Kruger’s face looks, with the burn? That’s what the inside looked like.”

During the episode, she recalled the plastic surgeon who came up with the groin skin graft plan.

“[H]e suggested the skin graft, [and to] take it from the groin,” Coombs said. “They did the surgery, and then the hair started growing.”

She added, “Literal pubic hair. I don’t believe that the doctor mentioned I would grow pubic hair out of my patch. I don’t remember that.”

Coombs says she hasn’t been bothered by the dark patch for most of her life, but her perspective is different now that she’s a new mom and doesn’t want her daughter being teased by other kids about her mother’s appearance.

“I, at first, thought it didn’t affect me. Since having my daughter, I really started to get conscious of it,” she said. “She’s 6 months, and I’m worried about the kids she’ll go to school with … I don’t want her to be teased.”

Coombs asks the “Botched” team to make the facial patch “as small and minimal as possible,” but the doctors were concerned about possibly ruining her facial structure.

“We’re a little amazed that you could have that large of a chunk taken out of an area where there’s so many facial nerve branches. This is expertly done reconstruction work,” said Dubrow, according to People.

“Crystal’s case is actually deceptively very complicated,” he added. “That skin graft is very close to critical anatomic structures like the nose, the cheeks and the eye, that if altered, even a little bit, can change the entire shape of the face, and look very deformed.”

As reported by Metro. UK, the doctors were able to successfully surgically “implant a space filler to stretch Coombs’s skin in order to remove the groin skin and close the gap between her facial skin,” the outlet writes. She was left with a thin scar on her cheek and the pubic hair is gone.

“Before my surgery, I had a skin graft on my face with pubic hair growing out of it. After having my daughter, I was nervous about how other kids would treat her because of how I looked. But now, thanks to Dr. Nassif, the skin graft is completely gone. So now, my face is finally smooth, symmetrical and pubic hair free.”
