*(New York, NY) — Queens Theatre is proud to announce, in arrangement with Blue Vista 725, EclayRossie Productions, AKOUS Entertainment and The Directors Company, the New York Premiere of CHICKEN & BISCUITS, a new heart, soul and shade comedy by Douglas Lyons (“Beautiful”) and directed by Zhailon Levingston (Tina).

CHICKEN & BISCUITS will begin performances on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, New York) for a run through March 22nd, 2020. Opening night is set for Friday, March 6th, 2020.  Tickets are available now at https://queenstheatre.org/chicken-and-biscuits.

CHICKEN & BISCUITS will star Jennifer Fouche (Chicago Nat’l Tour) as Baneatta, Robert G. McKay (When They See Us) as Reginald, Alana Raquel Bowers (What to Send Up When It Goes Down) as Simone, Ebony Marshall-Oliver (Ain’t No Mo) as Beverly, Josh Adam Ramos (Brideshead Obliterated) as Kenny, Brendan Ellis (Stupid F**king Bird) as Logan, Ashanti J’Aria (Disaster) as Brianna, and Aigner Mizzelle (Betty & The Belrays) as La’trice.

In Chicken and Biscuits, Baneatta and Beverly attempt to put their sisterly differences aside to bury their father, Bernard. All is well at the funeral until it’s revealed that Bernard had not just two daughters, but three. Baneatta’s son Kenny brings his white boyfriend to the funeral, knowing he’s not exactly welcomed. Wig pins loosen, as truths emerge, leaving this African-American family to confront their skeletons head on; naturally with lots of love, shade, and prayer along the way.

Originally written in residence at The Directors Company, CHICKEN & BISCUITS’ development includes The Front Porch Readings Series, Queens Theatre’s 2019 New American Voices Series, and Frank Silvera’s Workshop at The Billie Holiday Theatre.

CHICKEN & BISCUITS will feature set design by Nate Berton, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Christopher Darbassi and casting by Robin Carus Casting. Jay Rogers serves as general management and Rachel Denise April* will serve as Stage manager.

Tickets are $25 ($20 QT Members, discounts for seniors/students) and are available at queenstheatre.org or by phone at (718) 760-0064. The performance schedule is as follows: Mondays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm and 8:00pm; and Sundays at 3:00pm. Exceptions: Saturday, March 7th 2:00pm show will be at 6:00pm only.
