Breonna Taylor’s Boyfriend Sues City, Louisville Police Over Botched Drug Raid [VIDEO]

*Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, is suing the city of Louisville and its law enforcement over the March 13 police raid that left Taylor dead.

Taylor, 26, was shot eight times while sleeping in her bed with Walker when three plain clothes officers performed a no-knock arrest warrant at her Louisville apartment.

A search warrant revealed cops believed Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, 30, was hiding drugs or money at the apartment.

At the time of the raid, Glover was already in police custody 10 miles away. No drugs or cash were found at Taylor’s home.

Three undercover Louisville officers, Myles Cosgrove, Brett Hankison and Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, conducted an improper raid when they burst in Taylor’s home and fired at least 22 times, with bullets going into neighboring apartments, and “it was incredible that Mrs. Taylor was the only one killed,” said Rob Eggert, Walker’s defense attorney.

Walker, a licensed gun owner, shot at officers when they attempted to enter without announcing themselves, according to the lawsuit. He was not injured in the incident, but was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and attempted murder for striking a police officer when he fired one shot out of Taylor’s apartment.

The charges were ultimately dropped and now he is seeking immunity against his actions under Kentucky’s “stand your ground” law, ABC News reports.

“I was raised by a good family. I am a legal gun owner and I would never knowingly shoot at a police officer,” he said at a news conference.

Walker and Taylor were asleep when the officers allegedly tried to break down the door, which prompted him to get his gun and fire at the door, according to the lawsuit.

The officers returned fire, killing Taylor in her sleep.

According to the suit, Walker asked, “Who is it?” three times to no response before the officers broke open the door.

“Kenny immediately reacted by firing a single shot to scare away the intruder or intruders,” the suit said. Mattingly was struck in the leg during the incident, according to police.

As of Sept. 1, Hankison has been fired while Cosgrove and Mattingly have been placed on administrative duties.

Walker’s attorney, Steve Romines, said he still hasn’t received  a ballistics report, but questioned whether it was his client’s bullet that struck Mattingly or friendly fire.

“It is still six months later and they’re still trying to figure out what happened in that apartment,” he said at the news conference.

Walker is seeking $10.5 million for “false arrest, malicious prosecution, assault” and other charges.

“My life changed forever in the early morning of March 13,” he said.
