AMC Offering 15-Cent Tickets for ‘Centennial Celebration’ Reopening on August 20

*When AMC reopens more than 100 locations on August 20, the cost of admission for will be 15 cents a ticket. 

As part of the chain’s “Centennial Celebration, all AMC U.S. theatres will offer the 1920’s admission price of 15 cents each available on all available seats (due to social distancing, the seating capacity will be significantly reduced),” per Deadline.

“One-hundred years later, as AMC reopens its doors to U.S. moviegoers for the first time in more than five months, AMC is celebrating its history with a throwback to the year it all started by offering Movies in 2020 at 1920 Prices.”

During its opening-day promotion, AMC will show a few fan favorites, including “Ghostbusters,” “Black Panther,” “Back to the Future” and “Grease.” 

AMC confirmed that Disney’s “New Mutants” will debut in theaters August 28, with Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” to follow September 3. Other new releases planned for late August, include “Unhinged” starring Russell Crowe; and Armando Iannucci’s “Personal History of David Copperfield,” from Disney’s Fox Searchlight.

About two thirds of the chain’s 600-plus U.S. theaters will reportedly be open by Sept. 3.

As our guests return on our first day of resumed operations on August 20, we invite them to join us in celebrating a return to the movies, and in celebrating 100 years of AMC making smiles happen with movies at 1920 prices of only 15 cents each,” said CEO Adam Aron.
