*This is the other reason why Oprah Winfrey is trending on Twitter today. In addition to folks wanting her to speak out against Dr. Phil for saying on Fox News that stopping the spread of coronavirus is not worth shutting down the economy, her other protégé, Dr. Oz, said something equally as callous on Fox News.

In an interview Tuesday with Sean Hannity about areas where the U.S can open up the economy sooner than later without doing too much damage., Dr. Mehmet Oz suggested that the percentage of probable deaths caused by sending kids back to school amid the pandemic is so low that it might be worth it.

He said: “Schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in The Lancet arguing the opening of schools may only cost us 2 to 3%, in terms of total mortality. Any, you know, any life is a life lost, but to get every child back into a school where they’re safely being educated, being fed and making the most out of their lives, with the theoretical risk on the back side, it might be a tradeoff some folks would consider.”

Dr. Oz apologized and said he “misspoke” after the backlash got out of control.

Oz also went on “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning and said he was “really bothered” after he “learned that Boston University canceled its fall semester.” He said Boston U was “hurting people that you’re responsible for…I’m not sure we’re helping this problem that much by taking our kids out of school and we’re definitely paying a price for it.”

Oprah? Your country needs you to come get both of your “doctors.”
