*Why are we not at all surprised to learn that Donald Trump has inserted himself into the Chris Cuomo story after the CNN news anchor went bonkers on a man who called him “Fredo.”
“Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant?”
Trump was referring to the so-called “red flag” warning system he’s been trumpeting to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill.
“Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!,” Trump added.
In the video (above), a man (still unidentified as of this posting) told Cumo that he actually believed the CNN host’s name really was “Fredo.” Well, Cuomo wasn’t having it ’cause he knows it’s the nickname conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh uses for him.
Of course, anybody who’s ever seen “The Godfather” knows that Fredo Corleone was the dimwitted and disloyal older brother of Michael Corleone, the central character in the classic film.
With Cuomo’s caustic language (“I’ll f***ing throw you down these stairs like a f***ing punk,”) in the video causing a slight PR problem for CNN, a hypocritical Trump put his two cents in:
“I thought Chris was Fredo also,” Trump tweeted. “The truth hurts. Totally lost it! Low ratings @CNN.”
Since Cuomo goes in on the orange a-hole in the White House on a nightly basis, it’s no surprise Trump is returning the favor on the television personality who protests in the video footage that “Fredo” is an insult, “like the N-word for Italians.”
Interestingly, video has since emerged of two paid CNN contributors calling Republicans, including Donald Trump Jr., ‘Fredo.’ One did it on Cuomo’s show as he sat without objection, notes the Daily Mail.

As far as CNN’s reaction to the incident, in a statement, the network said that Cuomo “defended himself when he was verbally attacked with the use of an ethnic slur in an orchestrated setup. We completely support him.”
In the aftermath of what happened, Cuomo tweeted that he should have been calmer in his self-defense.
“I should be better than the guys baiting me,” he wrote. “This happens all the time these days. Often in front of my family. But there is a lesson: no need to add to the ugliness; I should be better than what I oppose.”
