the real crew

*On Thursday, April 25, The Real co-host Loni Love shares her reaction to appearing in People Magazine’s “Beautiful Issue” with her boyfriend, James!  Also, the ladies discuss how the difficulties of going through TSA screening as African American women indicate the need for more minorities working in technology.  Also, when is it appropriate or rude to keep ear pods in?

Then, co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley gives a quick tutorial on the proper way to taste a fine wine and the ladies compare notes on some of the backhanded compliments that they regularly receive.

Later, actor Diedrich Bader stops by to talk about his television series American Housewife, his appreciation for security guards, and how he is still recognized for his role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Tamera Shares Her Knowledge Of Tasting Fine Wine

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Since I love wine, maybe I would do a tutorial on how to taste wine properly. You know what I mean?

Adrienne Houghton: Yes! Yes! Wine tasting!

Tamera: A lot of people don’t really know.  You know?

Loni Love: That’s true.

Tamera: You start with the stem of the glass, so you don’t put the heat on the glass which will ruin the taste of the wine.  Then you twirl it like this (makes a twirling motion with her hand).  Well, swirl.

Jeannie Mai: Swirl. Yeah.

Tamera: Then you swirl it like this (makes a swirling motion with her hand) to aerate the wine. Then you can tip it just a little bit so that you can see the legs.  And the legs actually just shows you how much alcohol content is in it.  Then you’ll put it up to your nose, sniff it a little bit. You’ll taste some like raspberries, blueberries. And then finally you’ll get to drink it.

Loni: Ooh! I want some wine!

Adrienne: I would totally do that with you.

Loni: What do the legs look like?

Adrienne: Stripes.

Jeannie: Streaks.

Tamera: You know when you’re just like, it’s streaks of wine in a clear wine glass.

Loni: What I’m trying to understand, because I just found this out listening to your tutorial, the alcohol content.

Tamera: Yeah!

Loni: How do you know?

Tamera: The more legs the glass of wine has, the more alcohol in it.

(The Real audience laughs)

Tamera: There you go!
