The Nerve! Trump Thinks Meghan Markle Takes Negative Press Coverage ‘Too Personally’

*Donald Trump has attacked the press since the moment he became 45th president of the United States.

According to the former reality TV star, the media has treated no other president as horribly as they have treated him. And yet — during a recent conversation with Nigel Farage’s radio program, Trump weighed in on Meghan Markle’s public battle with the British press, and had the nerve to say she’s taking the critical media coverage “very personally.”

“I’ve been watching her interviews and I’ve seen it, and she’s taking it very personally. I guess you have to be a little bit different from that,” Trump told Farage, TIME reports.

“She takes it very, very personally and I can understand it. I don’t know her—I will say, I’ve met Harry, he’s great,” he added.

Last month, Markle and Prince Harry announced they were suing a U.K. tabloid after it published parts of an intimate she sent to her father.

Markle recently opened up about the intense scrutiny she continues to face a new member of the British royal family.

We previously reported… seventy-two female members of Parliament expressed their solidarity for Markle in an open letter, led by Holly Lynch of the Labour Party, according to PEOPLE.

“Women MPs from all political parties have put aside our differences to stand in solidarity with the Duchess of Sussex today and are sending her this open letter,” Lynch wrote on Twitter, sharing images of the letter and all who signed it.

The letter also called out “outdated, colonial undertones” in some of the coverage about Markle.

In a new interview, Lynch revealed that Markle called her Wednesday morning to thank her for the letter of support.

“She was calling to thank myself and other women MP for standing with her,” Lynch noted, adding, “As a fairly new mom myself, the challenges of being in the public eye, managing childcare, managing public responsibilities can all be a challenge, so we did discuss that. But yeah, we were quite happy to stand with her and recognize that what she’s going through has on occasion had xenophobic undertones. We’re not happy about that.”

Lynch added that she felt some of the media coverage had racist undertones.

“I’ve been really concerned about some of the narratives, some of the articles that have been incredibly sexist but also that she’s not from this country, she’s from elsewhere and we’re not happy about that,” Lynch said. “I’m afraid that’s unacceptable in this day and age. She’s here, she’s married our prince, they’ve got a young son. We really want to welcome her to our society and I’m afraid not all of the articles in our national press, and it’s time that stops.”
