Sonja Sohn (‘The Wire,’ ‘The Chi)’ Busted for Cocaine Possession in N.C.

*Sonja Sohn has got some ‘splainin’ ta do. The actress/director was busted and charged with cocaine possession over the weekend on North Carolina’s Roanoke Island.

The but went down during a traffic stop shortly after midnight Sunday near the Washington Baum Bridge in the town of Manteo. The Dare County Sheriff’s Office said officers found an unspecified amount of cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia in her purse, reports the NY Daily News.

If you watch “The Chi,” a coming of age series, you’ve seen Sohn, 55, as Laverne Johnson. Previously, she played a Baltimore detective in all five seasons of HBO’s “The Wire” and directed and produced the documentary “Baltimore Rising.”

Authorities said they found the drug in her purse after a police K-9 detected the odor of a controlled substance in the car.

Sohn, whose real last name is actually Plack, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor passion of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. She was also cited for driving with a revoked license and an expired registration.

Sohn was released after posting $1,500 bond.
