Reebok Rep Denies Report That Beyonce Walked Out of Meeting Over Lack of Diversity

*Contrary to several published reports, Beyonce did NOT walk out of a meeting with Reebok because it lacked diversity, according to TMZ.

ESPN’s Nick DePaula was first to report that the music icon walked out of a meeting with the company due to its lack of diversity and representation, per Complex.

“She had a meeting at Reebok and they had a whole presentation of everything, potential products, how this could all look, and she took a step back and said, ‘Is this the team that will be working on my product,’ and somebody said, ‘Yes,’ and she said, ‘Nobody in this room reflects my background, my skin color, where I’m from, and what I want to do.’ So, she took a step back and left,” DePaula said during a recent appearance on ESPN’s “The Jump”… watch via the Twitter embed below.

However, a rep for Reebok tells TMZ … “The report that Beyoncé walked out of a meeting with Reebok due to lack of diversity is categorically false. Our discussions with Beyoncé and her team continued for several months after our initial meeting. We are disappointed that false information is being reported as fact.”

It is not yet clear why the deal fell through but as we previously reported, the songstress ultimately inked a lucrative deal with rival Adidas.

In a press release, Beyoncé said, “This is the partnership of a lifetime for me. Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”

Adidas is just as thrilled with the partnership. “As the creator sports brand, Adidas challenges the status quo and pushes the limits of creativity through its open source approach,” Eric Liedtke, Executive Board Member – Global Brands, Adidas said in a press release. “Beyoncé is an iconic creator but also a proven business leader, and together, we have the ability to inspire change and empower the next generation of creators.”
