*Monica is calling a time out on her nearly 9-year marriage to ex-NBAer Shannon Brown. Actually, to be more factual it’s game over ’cause she’s already filed divorce paperwork.
Speaking of said paperwork, the ATL based singer filed with the court earlier this month in the peach city. Monica and Shannon have a 5-year-old daughter named Laiyah together, and she has 2 sons from a previous relationship with rapper Rocko.
As of this posting, there are no details as to whether she’s seeking child or spousal support.
There had been talk for months of the two being separated, but Monica shut the talk down by posting snaps of her and Brown together on the Gram.

However, before the divorce became public, Brown posted a few cryptic messages that seem to possibly reference the split. In Like this one:
“God won’t allow you to go thru what you can’t come out of. As a matter of fact He the one who is putting you thru it. Pay attention while you’re going thru tho. The people that are around you will show you who they really are and what they really all about. Then it’s up to you to act and move accordingly. You also gotta figure out what part you’ve played in the f**kery. Don’t lie to yourself, protect yourself at all times and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and fight back. #WarReady #FreeGame”
Blogger Sandra Rose, who was the first to report last year that Monica and Shannon were no longer living together, says the the two remain on friendly terms, and he frequently visits his daughter at Monica’s Atlanta area home.
