Minister Louis Farrakhan Banned by Facebook/IG Because He’s A ‘Dangerous Individual’

*Wow. Facebook is making a serious statement about where they are coming from these days. The behemoth international social media platform announced that it has banned several controversial individuals including Louis Farrakhan.

On Thursday, the Nation of Islam leader was banned by Facebook and Instagram as a “dangerous individual.” Farrakhan is not alone, however. Also getting kicked off the platform are conservative bloggers Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer, Paul Joseph Watson and others Facebook/Instagram has deemed as “dangerous individuals and organizations.”

Facebook explained its decision via a statement:

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”

Alex Jones was previously banned from Youtube and Twitter, which bans anyone they consider right-wing conspiracy theorists.

The Nation of Islam, which Farrakhan heads is considered a hate group. The Southern Poverty Law Center cited Farrakhan as “deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-LGBT.”

Farrakhan and all of the other “dangerous individuals” have had their Facebook pages deleted and all of their related content purged from the social media giant’s servers. Additionally, in Farrakhan’s case,  all social media pages of the Nation of Islam will be wiped away as well.

To eliminate some of the sting of being banned, and because it took longer than expected for Facebook to purge the accounts, the targeted individuals were able to let followers know which other platforms they’d be moving to.
