*President Trump made the surprising move of condemning bigotry and white supremacy after a pair of mass shootings over the weekend.
As the nation continues to call on politicians to do more to curb gun violence, Trump said during a Monday morning press conference that his focus will be on combating mental illness over new gun-control measures.
Meanwhile, following the shooting at a Walmart in El Paso that left at least 20 dead people dead, Mexico is considering legal action for what they are calling a terrorist attack, Complex reports.
“The fact that Mexicans have lost their lives, forces us to take the corresponding legal actions with respect to arms,” Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said of the attack, per Reuters.

Seven victims in the attack have been confirmed to be from Mexico, and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reportedly wants to pursue legal as a way of protecting families and “demand that the United States protect the Mexican community in the United States.”
Ebrard also stated in a news conference that the gunman—an alleged white nationalist—”is a terrorist.”
“We will bring the full resources of the FBI to bear in the pursuit of justice for the victims of these crimes,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement Sunday. According to BBC News, the attack is being handled “as a domestic terrorist case.”
“In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy,” Trump said to reporters from the White House on Monday. “Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul.”
His comments come after the El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, shootings that left 31 people dead and scores wounded.
