‘Jaxon’s Magical Adventure with Black Inventors and Scientists’ Teaches Kids About Black Inventiveness

Jaxon’s Magical Adventure with Black Inventors and Scientists

*Author Tamara Shiloh‘s objective is to increase the historical knowledge of our children with her six-book series, “Just Imagine…What If There Were No Black People in the World?”

Tamara started this mission because she was very disappointed that she was never sufficiently taught about the contributions that African-American have made to the growth of this country.

Tamara’s solution is to create a series of books that address this issue. The first book in the series, Jaxon’s Magical Adventure with Black Inventors and Scientists,” highlights Black inventors of the dustpan, mop, hair care products, light bulb, and blood plasma process, who have all made life better for all people. Tamara thinks it is important to embed in the minds of black children the names of Elijah McCoy (Train engine lubricator), Lewis Latimer (Light bulb filament), Granville T. Woods (Telegraph system) and Alexander Miles (Elevator doors). The fact that these great inventors were African American, gives Tamara a sense of pride. She wants to pass on this same sense of pride to children so that they will find the value that drives them towards productive and innovative lives.

“Knowing their history will not only build towards a child’s future, but hopefully they will aspire to strive for the greatness that African Americans have exhibited throughout time,” Tamara says. “I feel the missing link is the information that bridges the gap between inspiration and productivity.  Black History Month is reminder of how far we have come and how far we have to go as a country. Black history belongs to all of us: black and white, men and women, young and old. The impact African Americans have made on this country is an integral part of our shared culture and awareness. Failing to appreciate America’s multicultural national heritage alienates and divides us, thereby hurting us as a nation.”

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BOOK
Thank you, Tamara Shiloh, for bringing this greatly needed body of history lessons and learning materials to your readers and to our nation. The appeal is universal and offers a necessary re-visiting of the major contributions of African American scientists and inventors. Tamara Shiloh’s timing perfectly aligns with the current 21st century educational system’s focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) across the nation’s schools. Brilliant!
