Ella Mai Reacts to Alicia Keys Covering Her Hit ‘Boo’d Up’ [WATCH]

*Ella Mai has opened up about Alicia Keys covering her song hit song “Boo’d Up” at the Grammys.

The English singer/songwriter dished with Billboard during weekend one of Coachella about her seven Billboard Music Award nominations and how it feels to compete for awards with two of her friends, Khalid and H.E.R.

“We’re all nominated, which is a win itself,” she says. “And we’re all young, we’re all doing what we love to do, and that’s as much as it needs to be, really.”

On whether fans can ever expect a collaboration with Khalid, Mai promises they will make it happen, hopefully this year, or once their schedules slow down a bit.

In the interview, she also shares the emotions she experienced watching Keys cover her resonating love song at the Grammys earlier this year.

“I cried,” Mai reveals. “Luckily, they took the camera off me, but I sat there, after I was like ‘Oh my God,’ and then it really sunk in.”

“Alicia Keys is one of my idols,” she continues. “I used to want to be her so badly when I was growing up. I still want to be her, so to have her sing that, and as a song that she says she wishes she wrote, was incredible. I sat there and I just started crying…I will never ever forget that moment.”
