*Eddie Murphy is making his return to “SNL” this Saturday when he hosts the final episode of the year.
In an interview with Al Roker on the “Today” show, which you can watch above, Murphy dishes about some of classic characters he may revisit. He might even throw in an impression of Bill Cosby.
“[We’re] talking about a Gumby thing, and we’re talking about a Buckwheat thing,” he said. “A Bill Cosby thing, maybe. It would be very funny. I don’t know if he would think it was funny… I’m down for whatever, as long as its really, really funny.”
This will mark Murphy’s first time hosting SNL in 35 years.

“You don’t want to wait 35 years to come back, and the show ain’t s—.” He added: “I want it to be really, really right. You don’t want to wait 35 years and come back and the show ain’t s***.’
The comedian says that all 10 of his children will be in attendance when he returns to “Saturday Night Live” this week.
“My kids have all flown in for this, they’re all flying out. So they’ll watch it,” Murphy told Roker on Thursday.
The comic legend recently dished with Ellen DeGeneres about his return to the stand-up scene and possibly shooting a Netflix special.
“I’m gonna start kinda working [it] out in the beginning of the year and then when it’s ready, you know, I’ll try to give myself eight or nine months to get it ready,” he explained.
Murphy said fans can expect to see him hitting the stage at a few smaller clubs next year when he tests some new material. He’s also returning for a new “Beverly Hills Cop” film on Netflix.
The streaming giant has picked up the rights to make a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” with Murphy set to star and Jerry Bruckheimer producing.
Meanwhile, Murphy can currently be seen in “Dolemite Is My Name” on Netflix, followed next year by “Coming 2 America.”
