*Dwyane Wade’s 11-year-old son Zion had the support of his family, including step-mom Gabrielle Union, when he came out as gay at the Miami Beach Gay Pride celebration on Sunday.
As you can imagine, folks across social media had something to say about the child rocking with the LGBT community. The little boy and Gabrielle are all smiles in one pic that the NBA star captioned, “We support each other with pride.”
In another picture, Zion is surrounded by his family while carrying a rainbow flag. Wade captioned it, “Zion had his own cheering section today. Wish I was there to see you smile.”

Zion’s brother Zaire also took to Instagram to post a photo of them together, “Love you bro, no matter what. Gotcha back, kid. Support gang!,” he captioned the image.
But one outraged fan posted on Twitter: “How the hell is Dwayne Wade son gay at like 9 or 10’yrs old?they taking him to gay parades and everything letting him dress like a girl and stuff! Hell Nawl that’s just too much shit wrong in every way.”
Another user replied, “Your edges are tryna get away from your homophobic a**.”
Twitter user @buy_me_loubs said: As a queer black man it’s so amazing to see the way that @itsgabrielleu & @DwyaneWade embrace the LGBTQ community & give their son room to express himself which is something you rarely see in the black community.Your son will benefit so much from that support,Im so happy for him.”
And user @JTizzlle praised D. Wade for embracing “his son no matter who is, is what LGBTQ youth deserve!”
As noted by Black Celebrity Kids, the annual weeklong Miami Beach Pride event aims to “bring together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, their friends, allies, and supporters in celebration of the unique spirit and culture of the LGBTQ community.”
