‘Breakthrough’s’ Real John Smith Talks Challenges of Watching His Life Story

*Have you ever had the feeling like you are drowning in life?  You can’t catch yourself and you’re so overwhelmed you think you’re going to drown, but then a miracle happens. You are saved!

Well that is the story of young John Smith, only his version isn’t figurative. It’s real life. John’s story is being told through the film “Breakthrough,” produced by Devon Franklin, which follows the events after his tragic fall into an icy lake in the winter of 2015.

Our correspondent LMarie sat down with real life John Smith to talk about his experience. When asked what is was like to relive his traumatic experience, his answer will bring tears to your eyes.

“A lot of people feel like you get to see yourself die again, but I didn’t really see that. I was more concerned about what my parents went through…so seeing that relived really struck me harder than any thing else.”

It must have been hard for this family to experience this trauma all over again. But when you see this film you can see that they are an extremely resilient family.

Not only is this story about resilience and faith, it is also about finding one’s purposed in life. Even as a teenager John was struggling to find his purpose and his value in life, which became more of a struggle after his accident.

“Now you have this golden goose what do you do with it? That caused me to run away even more” was his response when asked if he felt pressured to find his purpose after his experience.

Most have not have endured what John has, but many can relate to the emotional struggles he has dealt with.

“Breakthrough” is a powerful film that will inspire all in one way or another.  Make sure you see it theaters Easter weekend.
