“Games People Play” is the new BET drama produced by Tracey Edmonds and based on the popular novel by Angela Burt-Murray, about living the high life of fame, sex and money in Los Angeles with the backdrop of professional sports.
The action centers around a desperate basketball wife trying to protect her family, a tenacious journalist struggling to rebuild a tarnished career, and a burned out actress turned scandalous groupie looking to make a name for herself.
The ensemble cast features Lauren London, Sarunas J. Jackson (“Insecure,”) Karen Obilom, Parker McKenna Posey (“My Wife and Kids”) and Jackie Long (ATL.)
Vanessa King (London) is a loyal basketball wife married to Marcus King (Jackson), a star pro athlete that has trouble staying faithful to his wife. When blogger Nia Bullock – who also happens to be Vanessa’s best friend – gets her dream job as editor of Diva Magazine in Los Angeles, she finds herself right in the middle of an unfolding murder investigation revolving around Marcus. It’s also looking like Vanessa is the main suspect in the case.
Meanwhile, Marcus is back to his old habits after hooking up with aspiring actress, Lalia James (Posey,) who finds herself resorting to online tactics to get attention, using her affair with Marcus to spearhead a popularity surge under the social media moniker “Golden Goddess.”

EURweb’s Jill Munroe spoke with cast members, Karen Obilom, Parker McKenna Posey and Jackie Long about what to expect from the new series and how closely do the events mirror real life that they have seen in the “high life.” Posey says the show is a “unique masterpiece that has something for everyone.” If you want to laugh tune in, if you want to cry, tune in, if you want to watch sex, tune in. It also shows young women the impact of social media.”
Long portrays Marcus’ best friend/ assistant Kareem. A former college player who has a desire to live the life of fame and fortune too. Long says he didn’t have to audition for the role, BET Exec Robi Reed and Executive Producer Tracey Edmonds sent him the script and offered him the role.
“Kareem is everything that I could ask for in a character. The show itself gives you something different, the real story.”
