*Whoopi Goldberg recently returned to her hosting chair at the ABC’s “The View” after a month-long absence due to a battle with pneumonia and sepsis.
“I’m the only person who can go into the hospital for three weeks and put weight on,” joked Goldberg when she made a surprise appearance on the March 14 episode of the daytime talk show.
But her friends don’t her it’s a laughing matter. According to a new report, Whoopi’s “friends are worried that the 63-year-old is now eating herself to death,” writes Celebrity Insider.

According to Radar Online, at five-foot-five, Whoopi appears to weigh more than 250 pounds. Considering her recent health scare, Dr. Gabe Mirkin – who has not treated the comedian/actress – she shouldn’t weigh more than 135 pounds.
“For someone with her recent health history, that is a recipe for disaster,” an insider told the publication.
Dr. Mirkin notes that obesity causes inflammation in the arteries which could lead to a fatal heart attack.
In a video message during “The View’s” March 8th broadcast, Goldberg said she came “very, very close to leaving the Earth.”
“Good news,” she added, “I didn’t.”
An insider claims Goldberg is a compulsive eater and she’s been triggered to overeat lately because of plummeting “View” ratings and the release of the tell-all new book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View.”
