*21 Savage has spoken out for the first time since he was arrested by ICE in the U.S., and the acclaimed rapper believes his was definitely a targeted case.

Savage – real name She’yaa Bin Abraham Joseph – was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this month amid claims that he’s a UK national and “unlawfully present in the US”.

Recalling the moment of the arrest, the Atlanta-based artist said: “I was just driving. And I just seen guns and blue lights. And, then, I was in the back of a car. And I was gone.

“They didn’t — they didn’t say nothing. They just said, ‘We got Savage’. It was definitely targeted.”

While he still faces the threat of deportation, 21’s legal team said he “won his freedom” earlier this week.

“For the past 9 long days, we, on behalf of She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, known to the world as 21 Savage, have been speaking with ICE to both clarify his actual legal standing, his eligibility for bond, and provide evidence of his extraordinary contributions to his community and society,” a statement from his legal team confirmed.

“In the last 24 hours, in the wake of the Grammy Awards at which he was scheduled to attend and perform, we received notice that She’yaa was granted an expedited hearing. Today, 21 Savage was granted a release on bond. He won his freedom.”
