Actress Deysha Nelson Shines in Netflix’s ‘Holiday Rush’ Premiering on Thanksgiving

*The film industry continues to unleash some impressive young talents who have captured the hearts of movie lovers and have showcased the potential for long and promising careers. Now, ascending among them, is Deysha Nelson, a star in the upcoming Netflix movie ‘Holiday Rush‘ scheduled to premiere on Thanksgiving Day.

Featuring Romany Malco, Sonequa Martin-Green, Lala Anothony, Tamala Jones, Stormi Maya, Deon Cole and others, ‘Holiday Rush’ will take viewers into the life of successful radio DJ and single dad, Rashon ‘Rush’ Williams (Romany Malco), who gets fired from his cushy job at a Pittsburgh radio station. He must move his four spoiled kids into his Aunt’s house to avoid losing his career, his money and everything he worked for. Nelson is on full display, playing the role of Mya, the sassy middle child obsessed with popularity.

At only 12 years old, she clearly boasts a maturity, confidence and screen presence that is well beyond her years. Drawing from her experiences on set and among seasoned actors, she aims to use this high profile moment to catapult her burgeoning career to new heights.

“The journey for me as a young actress has been joyful. I get to work with such amazing people and it is fun going to different sets and learning more things that I never knew before,” said the Philadelphia area resident who is also a twin. “I enjoy being able to tap into different characters and I also like that I get to travel a lot and see great reviews about me online from different directors and critics. I love googling myself and seeing what’s out there about me.”

Nelson has appeared in numerous commercials, such as for the Philadelphia Zoo, Lipton Iced Tea and AARP. She has also appeared on TV in CBS’ comedy-drama series “Godfriended Me,” Syfy’s “Happy” and on Nickelodeon’s “Tot Cop.”

‘Holiday Rush’ is a family movie that displays a mixture of comedic relief, romance and drama. It is also a positive story about a black, widowed father who rallies to protect and take care of his children, a narrative that is far-too-often omitted from Hollywood projects.

This storyline was important for Nelson, who prides herself on participating in projects that have social redeeming value. Moving ahead, Hollywood will be seeing a lot more from her. Busy and booked is an understatement.

“I am working on a project with my twin sister expected to come out in the New Year and I will also be doing celebrity interviews for a big holiday event next month,” Nelson said. “I was hired earlier this year to be Assistant Director for a film expected to come out in the summer of 2020, so I am very excited about that. Not to mention, I have had meetings and auditions with networks like Disney and Nickelodeon.”

In other words, watch out, because she’s coming.
