*We’re learning more about the shooting of ex-Boston Red Sox player David “Big Papi” Ortiz. Local police in the Dominican Republic say was a sophisticated hit-job.
They say it involved two cars which staked him out before he was shot by a man on a motorcycle Sunday night as he had drinks at the Dial bar in Santo Domingo.
As of this posting, two men, Eddy Feliz Garcia (the motorcycle driver) and Oliver Moisés Mirabal Acosta (the shooter), have been arrested.
Before the incident happened, Acosta was video’d as he drove around in a Hyundai and was seen speaking to other men.
He then approached Ortiz on the bicycle and shot him, according to police.

Garcia, who was chased down and beaten at the scene of the crime, has now been charged with a slew of charges including attempted murder but his lawyer says he is an innocent moped taxi driver who had no clue what Acosta was planning.
According to police, two Hyundais were seen following Ortiz before the incident, including one which was facing him before he got shot.
They have not released the footage but it was described in charging documents for Garcia.
Exactly how many people have been arrested remains unclear. Local media reports say police have made ‘multiple’ arrests but the names of only Garcia and Acosta have emerged.
Police are yet to confirm a motive but multiple law enforcement sources told DailyMail.com earlier this week that the hitmen were hired by a reputed drug lord who believed Ortiz, who is married, was having an affair with his wife.
The baseball star’s representatives dismissed that it was over a woman but said they had no doubt it was a contract job.

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier, Ortiz was flown back to Boston on Monday on a Red Sox plane.
Reports say he is now recovering in a boston area hospital, where he is expected to remain for some time, but took his first steps yesterday.
Doctors say he is lucky to be alive. The bullet hit him in the back and exited through his stomach.
He had to have surgery to have part of his gallbladder removed and some of his intestines were taken out but he is expected to make a full recovery.
