*While watching the action thriller “Hunter Killer,” I had to keep reminding myself, “Get a grip! It’s only a movie.” You know a movie is good when it takes you out of your seat in the theater and places you where all the action is taking place.
The intrigue centers on a potential nuclear apocalypse when American and Russian submarines face off. It’s up to Commander and strategist Joe Glass (Gerard Butler) to prevent WWIII by assembling an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue a kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters.
Directed by Donovan Marsh, “Hunter Killer” also stars Common, Gary Oldman, Michael Nyqvist, Linda Cardellini, and Corey Johnson.

‘Love Jacked‘
“Love Jacked” is a just that, a love gone awry because of a cheating fiancé. Maya (Amber Stevens) thought she met the man of her dreams, Mtumbie (Demetrius Grosse), when she went to South Africa to work on her craft. After getting engaged, Mtumbie is caught cheating and Maya returns home to a controlling dad (Keith David) and a family expecting pending nuptials.
Afraid of her naysayer father finding out he was right about her going off to Africa, Maya cooks up a plan to substitute a groom to be in place of Mtumbie. But it’s unfortunate that she, an accomplished artist, settled for a pool hall hustler as the intended to walk her down the aisle. Instead of selling herself short and being part of a double standard, Maya could’ve at least hooked up with the bartender. She does, however, make it possible for viewers to see a luscious side African so seldom seen in film by making the trip to South Africa.
Directed by Alfons Adetuyi, the rom-com also stars Mike Epps, Marla Gibbs, and Lyriq Bent.
