‘The Darkest Minds’: The Young Adult Movie That Reminds You to Love Yourself (EUR Exclusive!)

*In “The Darkest Minds,” opening this Friday (08-03-18), when teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are seen as a threat by the government and sent to detainment camps. Sixteen-year-old Ruby soon escapes from her captors and joins other runaways who are seeking a safe haven. Banded together and on the run, they soon combine their collective powers to fight the adults who tried to take away their future.

Based off the first book by Alexandra Bracken’s young adult trilogy with the same name, “The Darkest Minds” is a movie thriller that keeps on giving. Amandla Stenberg, from “Hunger Games,” plays the lead, Ruby Daly, a 16 year old with abilities she hasn’t quite contained and doesn’t know how to handle.

These new found “abilities,” are the result of a disease called IAAN, (Idiopathic adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration), that specifically affects children only. The disease is so widespread, it wipes out 98% of the world’s children, hence the detainment camps creation.
