The ‘Bumblebee’ Back Story via Hailee Steinfeld (EUR Exclusive/Watch)

*Have you ever wondered what Bumblebee’s back story was? How did he lose his voice and learn to use the radio as his voice? Well this is the movie that answers all of those questions and shows us who’s responsible for making Bumblebee, Bumblebee.

Hailee Steinfeld plays Charlie Watson, a young teenage girl that discovers Bumblebee in a junk yard and befriends him. Her character in this film isn’t your ordinary teenage girl, as she follows in her father’s footsteps of working on broken cars. When she finds Bumblebee in his original car form as a Volkswagen Beatle, she works on him in more ways than one. Fixing him up as a car and as a Transformer.

Our correspondent, LMarie, asked Hailee how she was able to create the bond Charlie and Bumblebee have in the film, because of course Bumblebee wasn’t actually there. “Definitely a challenge, one I have never experienced,” says Hailee.

She also told us it was more about creating a back story that felt real enough that she didn’t need anything there to react to. Talk about talent.  And her talent doesn’t stop there. Hailee did most of her own stunts for this movie: “I love how physically demanding this role was, there was never a dull moment.”

With the movie taking place in the late 80’s we wanted to know what Hailee’s experience was like filming in that era. As most of us know there are a lot of things that need to stay in the 80’s (LOL), but there are also some cool things to keep. LMarie plays a game with Hailee, asking her what she would keep or leave in the 80s.

Watch the interview video (above) to find out Hailee’s answers and make sure you watch “Bumblebee” in theaters  from December 21. It’s the perfect film for the family during this holiday season.
