*LOS ANGELES — The Positive Results Corporation, in partnership with Compton Mayor Aja Brown, will be hosting a free Prom Dress Give-Away this Saturday.

The giveaway will be held on Saturday, May 5th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Douglas F. Dollarhide Community Center located at 301 N Tamarind Street, Compton, CA 90220.

All prom, graduation and special occasion dresses are free to middle and high school students that are in financial need. Students are asked to register for this event by contacting The Positive Results Corporation at [email protected]. Applicants that don’t register can show up at the Prom Dress Give-Away, but it is on a 1st come, 1st serve basis.

“Our goal is to serve as many young ladies age 12- 22, as possible and give them a delightful shopping experience, and a large selection of beautiful gowns and special occasion dress to make their Prom and graduation a Magical Dream,” states Kandee Lewis, Executive Director of The Positive Results Corporation.

For many, the cost of a prom has become prohibitive. The dress, shoes, accessories, and ticket can end up cost well over $500.

“If we can provide the family a little relief, their choice of a fabulous gown, and a great experience, we have done our job. The reward of seeing a smile on their face is all we want.”

Community partners and friends reached out with hundreds of both new and gently used dresses and accessories, many of which are one of a kind and designer gowns, including a Herve Leger gown.

The Positive Results Corporation will also offer one young lady a scholarship from “Achieving My Dreams Foundation” This scholarship is provided by Dr. Cozette White for a high school senior who will attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice. The Foundation’s goal is to assist up to five (5) graduating seniors each year.

Mayor Brown has also partnered with All Thing Virtuous to gift 5 young ladies with Hair and Make-Up Gift Certificates for their prom.

The Positive Results Corporation thanks its many community partners who collaborated with them in this effort: The Lakers Youth Foundation, A Place Called Home, Retrouve, Forgiving For Living, Al Wooten Foundation, SPMG Media, Bishop Sherman Gordan of the Family of Faith Christian Center and the Women of Faith, Tamara Ellison & Co., and Greater Emmanuel Temple and the Women’s Department with President Evangelist Tracy Allen, STRUTS Bridal Salon, Melanin Movement L.A., Posh Bags by Leta, Dazzle & Design, The Blingsta Boss, Tracilynn Jewelry, Josy’s Events, and Compton’s Own Hub City Dre, along with a host of our beloved and trusted volunteers.
