*Count Rosario Dawson as one to speak out for the #MeToo movement. In an interview on the Morado Lens podcast, she revealed that she was raped as a child.

“I was raped and molested as a child, so for me, the world was like that since I was a child.”

And as far as sexual assaults in the entertainment industry, Dawson had this to say:

“When I saw it in the workplace, it wasn’t foreign to me. It was like, well, that even happens within family. It happens with people that are supposed to take care of you when you’re a child.”

Dawson also revealed that she was ready for the #MeToo movement, and the Time’s Up initiative, of which she’s also down with. As far as abuse and assault anywhere, she says:

“We don’t have to keep passing this on. This is archaic and terrible and destructive. Let’s look at it.”

Along with 300 other actors, producers, directors, and members of the film industry, Dawson helped to start the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which exists to provide financial aid and legal support to people affected by sexual assault, abuse, and inequality, in any industry, reports Harper’s Bazaar.

Rosario also spoke on the sudden death  of her 26-year-old cousin Vaneza Ines who was found last May by the actress in her (Dawson’s) home in Venice, California.

“When Vaneza died, it was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ Regardless of how well I’ve spent these years, I’ve already got 12 more years of life than Vaneza will ever have. I think what [that] really did was give me back my gratitude.”
