*Rihanna’s boss anthem “Bitch Better Have My Money” was chanted by Howard University students who continue to protest in the wake of a recent financial aid scandal.
As previously reported, it was recently revealed that university president Wayne A.I. Frederick first became aware of financial aid officers misappropriating roughly $1 million in funds earmarked for needy students in 2016, but didn’t go public about the findings until an anonymous whistleblower posted evidence this week on Medium.com.
The embezzlement went on for nearly a decade, Frederick confirmed Wednesday. Six employees of the financial aid office have been fired.
Irate students on the D.C. campus led a protest on Thursday (Mar. 29) choosing RiRi’s song as a fitting theme for their cause: “Bitch Better Have My Money.”
The singer retweeted a video of the protest, showing a massive group of students flooding the administrative building of the school shouting the lyrics. Rihanna added a flexing arm and a raising hands emoji to her caption. See below.

During the daylong protest on Thursday, students posted signs with their demands outside of the administration building, which included a demand for Frederick’s resignation. Students were still occupying the building at press time this morning.

Students are in story circles sharing what brought them here today. This is more than the embezzlement but the continuous devaluation of black students at universities. Many of the students are freshmen ♥️♥️♥️ #StudentPowerHU pic.twitter.com/apE865ACo3
