Prince Asked Donatella Versace to be the Face of #BLM Movement

*When Prince decided he wanted to be the face of the Black Lives Matter movement, he had one request for close friend Donatella Versace.

“He decided to be the face of the Black Lives Matter movement — that’s what he wanted — and he said, ‘You need to be with me,’” Versace recalled in GQ. “I was ready to do it.”

Prince died soon after making this request, but in the wake of her friend’s passing, Versace has kept up with political movements, especially #MeToo, per Page Six

“For harassment, this country [Italy] is still — they don’t like to say it. It’s a little bit taboo,” she explained. “Think about what happens in court here. If a woman says, ‘This person raped me,’ the judge and everybody asks the woman, ‘How were you dressed? You wore a miniskirt?’ It’s like the 1940s.”

Donatella took over the iconic brand as artistic director after her brother Gianni’s 1997 murder.

“I made a lot of mistakes,” she said about the beginning of her Versace reign.

“I know. I did a lot of mistakes for a few years,” she added, alluding to her increased drug use during that time.

Donatella went to rehab in 2005 for cocaine addiction.

“I really don’t remember what I did,” she said. “It was like a storm. Everything was rubble.”

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that the Black Lives Matter movement called the National Rifle Association a terrorist organization after the group filed a lawsuit against the Florida legislation that would raise the age to buy rifles to 21.

As noted by msn.com, “the NRA’s decision to file the lawsuit comes after Florida Governor Rick Scott signed off on the Senate Bill 7026 in the wake of the Parkland school shooting when a 19-year-old entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with an AR-15 rifle and killed 17 people.”

Following news of the lawsuit, BLM retweeted the Associated Press and called the NRA a terrorist organization. But it was later revealed that the Twitter account was not associated with the official Black Lives Matter movement.

Newsweek retracted its story that the movement called the NRA a “terrorist organization” on Twitter.

The mistake was revealed when a representative for the Black Lives Matter Global Network reached out to a Newsweek reporter.
