*NBC’s Comedy Queens Reception and Dinner was held Tuesday night at Wolf Dining in the heart of the Melrose/Fairfax District in Los Angeles. There is a new rise of comedy on the horizon and the women of the hit comedy shows “Marlon” (which just has been renewed for a second season) and “A.P. Bio” are sure to make their voices heard.
In a recent interview on the “Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne Tha God and Marlon Wayans, the creator of “Marlon,” both declared that “Bresha Webb is a star!” So, yours truly, EURweb associate Jimmy V, had the chance to ask the budding star her thoughts on the statement and she replied, “I’m very humbled.”
Webb is originally from Baltimore, Maryland where she began her career as a ballet dancer. After dancing for some years Webb decided to make a change after seeing how deformed the feet of dancers become. She’s had great success since this change starring in films such as “Meet the Blacks” and “Ride Along 2.”
Webb’s co-star Essence Atkins who is known for her work on classic 90s sitcom “Smart Guy” and the film “A Haunted House” is excited for this upcoming season of “Marlon.” Atkins is originally from Brooklyn, New York, but has been living in Los Angeles for the majority of her career.
The ladies of “A.P. Bio” Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, and Jean Villepique have an undeniable chemistry with one another off camera. They all joined in on the laughs and story-telling as we ate dinner and they shared stories of humble beginnings.
Lewis is an actress originally from New Orleans, LA and she performs weekly improvisation shows at the very well known “The Groundlings” in LA. Mary Sohn is a writer and actress that’s worked on CBS’ “Superior Donuts.” Jean Villepique has done work on films and shows like “I Love You, Man” and “The Goods: Live hard, Sell Hard.”
