Matt Barnes Uses Derek Fisher’s DUI History in Legal Battle with Gloria Govan

*Matt Barnes is dragging Derek Fisher into his ongoing fight with Gloria Govan by trying to discredit his former NBA teammate as a viable witness due to his conviction for DUI.

As reported by rollingout.com, Govan was having Fisher testify against Barnes in regards to her arrest for child endangerment last month when Barnes tried to pick up his kids from Govan at school.

According to records obtained by The Blast, Barnes’ legal team filed documents into the restraining order he has against his ex, officially entering info about Fisher’s car crash and DUI arrest from last year, the report states.

In the restraining order case, Govan listed Fisher as a witness and he is expected to testify on her behalf.

Back in June 2017, the former NBA coach and player flipped an SUV with Govan in the passenger seat while driving on a freeway in Los Angeles. He was arrested and charged, but later plead no contest and was sentenced to 100-hours of community service. He was also ordered to install an ignition interlock device on his car that forced him to perform a breathalyzer before the vehicle would start. Ironically, the car Fisher crashed was registered to Matt Barnes.

Fisher, meanwhile, has filed declarations into the other legal battles between Barnes and Govan, and is expected to testify in their divorce case.

Barnes’ attorneys are hoping Fisher’s DUI history paints the picture that he’s not a reliable witness and anything he says is motivated by his relationship with Govan.

As we previously reported, Govan recently scored a victory when a judge denied Barnes’ request to get full custody of their twins.
