*The accolades continue for Janet Jackson as producers for the 2018 Black Girls Rock! awards have chosen the singer to receive its Rock Star Award during the ceremony, to be held Sunday at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ. BET will air the show on Sept. 9.

Organizers for the event, which was founded by former DJ and model Beverly Bond to honor and promote black women in different fields, will recognize the 52-year-old entertainer as a “phenomenal woman in music.”

This marks the third career-focused award Janet has received in recent months. The mother-of-one was given with the first-ever Impact Award at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards in recognition of her influence on the entertainment industry. A month prior, she was presented with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards.

Other stars receiving accolades at the Black Girls Rock! awards include Mary J. Blige (Star Power Award), supermodel Naomi Campbell (Black Girl Magic Award) and dancer/choreographer Judith Jamison (Living Legend Award).

The show will also honor Emmy-winning writer Lena Waithe, Tarana Burke of the #MeToo movement and pay tribute to the late Aretha Franklin, who died last week at age 76 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Queen Latifah will host.
