In New Book Dawn Jamison Offers Survivor Stories and Tools to Help Identify Most Common Mistakes Preventing Success

dawn jamison - Reckoning Day

*DETROIT –– “Reckoning Day: #MeToo Stories That Inspire You,” is one of the first books released since the #MeToo Movement. The book includes 20 survivor stories, a historical view of the movement and its international impact. In the book, author Dawn Jamison continues the important dialogue of the movement and encourages survivors to break their silence.

“This book gives readers an intimate look into the harrowing experiences of sexual abuse survivors. Equally important, it provides info on how to recognize the signs of abuse,” said reader Andrea Taylor. “Through Jamison’s work, you will be inspired and empowered with information that will help you to avoid victimization.”

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand that stories have power,” added Jamison, who started her career at The Grand Rapids Press in Grand Rapids, MI in 1998. “These must-read accounts will let other survivors know that they are NOT alone.”

In addition to the very personal stories of women and men across the country, “Reckoning Day” also features an index of tips and a resource guide to share with those living with abuse. Jamison, who is a Romulus resident, put her years of news reporting to work to share riveting stories that represent thousands of untold stories of abuse and harassment. Jamison believes many families have been touched by abuse in one way or another.

Jamison also recently released “The 8 Mistakes Women Make”, a self-help book that reveals the top eight areas that commonly hold women back from accomplishing their life goals. Jamison has coached dozens of women since becoming a certified life coach in 2012 and shares experiences and tools that can help provide clarity for women. Jamison’s eight highlighted mistakes include: comparing yourself to other women, thinking too small and mean girl behavior.

“I think we need to focus more on our mistakes so that we can learn from them and share our lessons with other women. I share my own mistakes, experiences of clients and other women who wish they had the tools I include in this book,” Jamison said.

“Dawn Jamison, with her passion for women, encourages and demands that we put our big girl pants on and take an inner look at what determines our true happiness,” said A.J. Williams, City-Life-Style editor of The Michigan Chronicle.
