Actors Defend ‘Cosby Show’ Alum Geoffrey Owens After He Was Shamed for Working at Grocery Store

*Former “Cosby Show” star Geoffrey Owens was all the rage last week when it was revealed that he is currently working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s in New Jersey.

It all started when multiple outlets picked up on a story published by the Daily Mail, in which a woman reported seeing Owens on the job.

“It made me feel really bad. I was like, ‘Wow, all those years of doing the show and you ended up as a cashier,’” she said.

But when Fox News shamed Owens for working a regular gig, fans and actors hit up Twitter to support him.

“Fox News making a sideshow out of a guy just minding his business and doing honest work,” tweeted “Family Guy” creator and actor Seth MacFarlane after he saw the story last week. “Unfortunately, it fits right in with their darkly inverted code of ethics.”

Pamela Adlon of “Better Things” reminded folks that fame doesn’t guarantee financial comfort.

Terry Crews shared what life was like for him before his Hollywood career took off.

Owens played Elvin Tibideaux, boyfriend-then-husband of oldest daughter Sondra Huxtable on the NBC show from 1985 to 1992.

Despite not having constant work since quitting the series, “Quantico” Blair Underwood reminded the critics and haters that work is work.

Even actor James Woods took a break from his far-right Twitter rants to note: “He’s making more money than Cosby these days. Good for him. Now maybe some casting director will take note of a fine man who swallows his pride and is willing to work.”

One Twitter user noted details about the acting classes that Owens teaches, peep the tweet below:
