The Cast of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Talk 2nd installment of Franchise

*“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second installment in the wizarding world franchise. At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald ( Johnny Depp) was captured with the help of Newt Scamander ( Eddie Redmayne). But followed through with his promise to escape. Grindelwald then goes off to gather followers for his true agenda: to facilitate the rise of pure-blood wizards, to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

EURweb’s Jill Munroe sat down with the cast to discuss how the film’s theme is similar to current issues happening in America, what it is like stepping into JK Rowling’s  “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” and a holiday cast album that also feature stars from the original “Harry Potter” franchise.

Actress Zoe Kravitz said although Rowling wrote the film a long time ago, she’s very tuned in to current happenings in the world. “History repeats itself, this isn’t the first time that there have been major divides like this.”

The upcoming holiday album will feature both Christmas classics and Hanukkah songs, including duets with cast members Dan Fogler (Jacob) and Alison Sudol (Queenie) and Ezra Miller (Credence) also teams up with Dan on a metal mashup of the Hanukkah song.

The film also has quite a few characters that fans of the Harry Potter franchise will remember. In addition to Jude Law taking on the role of a youthful Dumbledore, Voldemort’s snake Nagini’s origin story is shown in the film, played by Claudia Kim. Nagini befriends fellow outcast and fugitive Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller) who joins the circus after causing massive destruction to Manhattan in the first film.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, Poppy Corby-Tuech,  and Jude Law and Johnny Depp. It opens in theatres on November 16, 2018.
