‘The Voice’ Season 12 Contestants Say They Lack Sleep (EUR Exclusive – Watch)

NBC’s “The Voice” season 12 red carpet was held on Tuesday (04-18-17) at the Universal stage 12 lot in Studio City.

The night started with performances by contests that represent Team Blake, Team Adam, Team Alicia and Team Gwen. It ended with a major surprise as fan favorites such as 14 year old Quizz Swanigan was eliminated after putting on an amazing performance while singing “My Girl,” by The Temptations.

EUR associate Kiki Ayers was on the scene immediately following the show to interview the remaining contestants who just faced an unpredictable night. One thing that became apparent was that most of the contestants lacked sleep before their performance.

“It’s really hard to sleep the night before because you’re excited and you’re nervous so you have all these mixed emotions,” said Mark Isaiah.

Jesse Larson who is also Team Adam, said he was knocked out. Where as Team Blake’s TSoul said he can’t sleep or eat before he hits the stage.

“It’s like that Christmas feeling where you’re going to wake up tomorrow and there’s going to be gifts everywhere,” he laughed. “The gift is the audience and the stage of ‘The Voice.'”

TSoul further explained that time zones are a big factor, being from the VA (Virginia) and performing in LA for the show.

Team Adam’s Lauren Duski told us she can’t sleep either because she wakes yo rehearsing her sings subconsciously. She further went on to say that as contestants they dream, eat and sleep their songs. Team Gwen’s Hunter Plake said he tries to go to sleep early the night before but his sleep only lasts 30 minutes.

“I took a butt load of melatonin last night. I probably overdosed on it honestly but don’t do that,” said Plake. “I would say it’s very difficult the night before because you’re thinking through your performace the whole night.”
