*Madison Square Garden has a rich history of staging big fights and there’s been so many that have taken place there that there’s not enough room in this article to tell you about everyone of them, but folks I got to tell you something they don’t call it the mecca of boxing for nothing.
Just about every boxing great has fought in the Garden from Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, “Sugar” Ray Robinson, “Rocky” Marciano, Gene Fulmer, Evander Holifield, Lennox Lewis, and not to mention the “Fight Of The Century” between Muhammad Ali and “Smokin” Joe Frazier back in March 1971 (as I said there isn’t enough room in this piece to fit them all).
Which leads me to talk about what’s about to take place this weekend as two of the most dangerous fighters in the middleweight division are about to go at each other at the Garden. Folks, this is the most anticipated boxing match right now that everyone wants to see and one that you don’t want to miss. As you have Gennady “GGG” Golovkin who is the number one middleweight champion of the world coming into this one with the most impressive ring record that you can possess 36-0 with 33 coming by way of knockout. Folks, that’s a 92% knockout percentage and that’s not a joke, this guy is really dangerous. Golovkin is originally from Karaganda, Kazahstan but currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif.
And he’s coming up against someone who meets his match in Daniel Jacobs who also has an impressive ring record with 32-1 and 29 coming by way of knockout. Jacobs is straight out of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York and they call him “The Miracle Man” because of  his victory outside the ring in his battle with cancer back in 2010 when he had to stop fighting for two years. When he returned to the ring in 2014 he captured the WBA middleweight title against a game Jarrod Fletcher and hasn’t loss since.
And you know what folks, there was a huge winter storm that just blew through the east coast with lots of snow and devastating winds that cannot compare to the big boxing storm that’s set to take place inside Madison Square Garden this weekend. What makes this a unique event is that it is a title unification bout for all the marbles that are on the floor.
This fight between these two guys should live up to it’s hype because they both are dangerous and anything could go down. As I always say, we’ll see what happens this Saturday night so make sure you got enough popcorn and sodas and tune in to HBO pay per view so you don’t miss this one.
