*Are you ready for some more Mariah on New Years Eve? Well, even if you aren’t, it’s happening anyway.
She’s returning to the scene of the crime, so to speak, and trying it again. In other words, if you haven’t figured it out, Mariah Carey is set for a redo of her infamous fail from last year.
On Friday, ABC announced that Carey will sing during “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” after flaming out at the 2016 event. “Take 2,” the performer tweeted about her return.
“We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018.’ See you in Times Square!,” Carey and Dick Clark Productions said in a joint statement.
Let us recap what happened last year. Carey’s set fell apart because of an audio track malfunction while she was reportedly lip-syncing. The excuse was she could not hear anything coming from her earpiece.
The incident led to a very messy dispute between Carey’s camp and Dick Clark Productions. Mariah even said that had the namesake founder of Dick Clark Productions, been alive, the audio mishap would not have happened
“All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business,” Carey told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.”

She may have been right, but we’ll never know. In any event, we’re gonna find out iof she and Dick Clark Productions can pull it off this year.
At the time, the production company described her claims that she was sabotaged as “outrageous and frankly absurd.”
Meanwhile, R&B singer Tank could barely contain himself when he found out Mariah is set for her New Years Eve redemption.
TMZ caught up with crooner at LAX on Christmas Eve, and he cracked up when he was informed that Mariah was invited back to try it again. Actually, he was quite sympathetic ’cause he’s been there, too.
Check out what he has to say.
